“Dr. Karmali has been an incredibly supportive and genuine mentor throughout my rotation. He is academically outstanding, highly knowledgeable, and at the same time kind, approachable, and deeply invested in teaching his students. Throughout the rotation, he ensured that every student had equal opportunities to present cases, participate in chalk talks covering important clinical topics, and improve their presentation skills. His feedback was always thoughtful, detailed, and focused on helping us grow with confidence and clarity.

One of the most impactful aspects of this rotation was the hands-on learning experience. We independently interviewed patients in the ER, took detailed histories, and presented cases the following day, which greatly improved my confidence in patient interactions and clinical reasoning in the U.S. clinical setting. Dr. Karmali also emphasized professionalism, empathy, communication, and compassionate patient care, while always encouraging questions and maintaining a welcoming learning environment.

As an IMG, navigating the U.S. healthcare system and residency application process can often feel overwhelming, but Dr. Karmali provided invaluable guidance throughout. He shared practical advice regarding residency programs, interviews, and personal statements, which was both reassuring and extremely helpful. What stood out most was the sincerity of his mentorship,he genuinely wants his students to succeed. I feel very fortunate to have learned from him and would highly recommend rotating with him.”

Dr. Prasad

“I am an IMG doing my first clinical rotation in the U.S. and feel really fortunate to have rotated with Dr. Adam Karmali. From the start, he made me feel comfortable being involved during rounds and encouraged us to actively think through cases instead of just observing.

The rotation was very hands-on with daily inpatient rounds, independent patient interactions during on-calls, case presentations, and high-yield 5-minute chalk talks after rounds that were actually really useful for reinforcing topics we saw during the day. I got exposure to a wide variety of Internal Medicine cases, including biliary/GI complications, ESRD, pneumonia, atrial fibrillation, DKA, and stroke patients.

Dr. Karmali is very patient and approachable, and he genuinely encourages questions and curiosity. I never felt hesitant to ask something or work through my thought process out loud. The rotation also leaves enough time for independent study, which helped me balance learning on rounds with reviewing topics afterward. It was a great experience for building confidence and getting comfortable with clinicals in a U.S. setting. This rotation has a human/empathetic component to it that is often overlooked but much needed in USMLE-Match Journey.”
